Abstract
In July 2019, Metro City experienced inflation of 0.42 percent due to an increase in the index from 141.89 in June 2019 to 142.49 in July 2019. Four expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation, namely the foodstuffs group by 0.3924 percent ; clothing group by 0,0257 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0,0099 percent and education, recreation and sports groups by 0,0038 percent and. In contrast, the two expenditure groups contributed to the formation of deflation, namely the housing, water, electricity and fuel group by 0.0044 percent and the health group by 0.0064 percent. The group that did not experience a change in index was the transportation, communication and financial services group.
Some of the dominant commodities contribute to inflation include red chili, cayenne pepper, green chillies, cucumbers, jewelery gold, carrots, apples, bananas, cassava leaves and squid.
Metro City inflation is ranked 25th, out of 82 cities observed in price developments, 55 CPI cities experienced inflation and 27 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga at 1.88 percent and the lowest inflation experienced by Makassar at 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Tual at 0.55 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Gorontalo at 0.02 percent.
Metro City, in July 2019 based on the calculation of inflation in the calendar year (Point to Point) is 2.19 percent and inflation year on year (YoY) is 2.98 percent.
